Kentaro Yabuki, the legendary manga artist behind hits like the To Love-Ru series, Black Cat, and Yamato Gensouki, is still a fan favorite nearly 30 years into his career. While he might not have a current serialization, his unparalleled skill in illustrating female characters remains an industry benchmark.
Following his previous reveal of a self-drawn "Cosmic Princess Kaguya!" Iroha Sakayori illustration on his X side account, Kentaro Yabuki has now added two more characters – Kaguya and Tsukimi Yachiyo – completing the main trio from the series. This move has set social media ablaze!
After the Iroha illustration dropped to widespread acclaim, Yabuki mentioned he'd been swamped with work. But, he felt it "wouldn't be right" to only draw Iroha, so he decided to whip up an illustration of Kaguya too.
Naturally, this Kaguya piece perfectly captures her original energetic vibe, infused with Yabuki's signature style. It's clear this was a labor of love, squeezed in despite his hectic schedule.
A week later, Yabuki was still super busy, but having already drawn Iroha and Kaguya, he just couldn't stop! So, on the 13th, he dropped an illustration of Tsukimi Yachiyo. This piece absolutely screams Yabuki's character style, while still preserving Yachiyo's stunning beauty and offering a fresh take on her design.
Unsurprisingly, the illustration instantly sent fans into a frenzy! Who knew Yabuki's X side account, only open for about a month, would already bless us with three "Cosmic Princess Kaguya!" illustrations? Talk about dedication and love for the series!
Naturally, fans are already clamoring for more "Cosmic Princess Kaguya!" characters. But given the artist's current "swamped" status, even if those wishes come true, it'll definitely be a while.
While Kentaro Yabuki doesn't have a new serialization right now, he did mention he's been knee-deep in "To Love-Ru" series projects for the past six months, with reveals expected soon. Still, ever since he opened his side account, any character art he drops from other series instantly becomes a viral sensation. Looks like we can definitely look forward to more fan-favorite characters getting the Yabuki treatment in the future!
