Tomohito Oda's beloved manga, Komi Can't Communicate, wrapped up its nine-year run in January 2025, leaving a legacy of two anime seasons and a massive fanbase.
Today, June 17th, marking the manga's 10th serialization anniversary, Tomohito Oda dropped a brand-new bonus short story on the "Sunday Webry" manga platform! This fresh chapter dives into Komi and her friends' lives as they navigate college after high school graduation.
This new installment picks up right after Chapter 500, "I'm a College Student." (「大学生です。」), which was a special bonus in the final Volume 37, continuing Komi's everyday adventures as a university student.
Chapter 501 kicks off with college-age Komi embarking on a new shared living experience, exploring her fresh start alongside Tadano and the gang.
Tomohito Oda revealed that he actually re-read the entire Komi Can't Communicate series from scratch to craft this new chapter. His verdict? "It's seriously good!" He admitted to feeling a bit insecure during the original serialization, but after revisiting it, he thought, "Phew, it really *is* interesting!"
As for this new story, "I really put my all into the content, hoping it wouldn't fall short of the previous chapters... But how did it actually turn out? I'll leave that for everyone to judge (laughs)," he added.
While there's no official word yet on whether this bonus chapter will lead to a full-blown series, the first installment of the college arc is live on "Sunday Webry." Fans should definitely keep an eye out, as the official channels have also teased more 10th-anniversary events. (And yes, plenty of fans are already screaming for that Season 3 anime, LOL!)
