Now, as "Kochikame" gears up to celebrate its 50th serialization anniversary this September, the official team has unveiled a series of commemorative projects. And the most eye-catching announcement? Two new tankobon volumes, dropping in September and October – the first new releases in five years!
The official word is that a brand-new special one-shot manga will be featured in Weekly Shonen Jump #36, hitting shelves on August 3rd. But that's not all! Volumes 202 and 203, compiling works published after the series concluded its original run, are also confirmed. This marks the first new tankobon release since Volume 201 dropped back in October 2021, making it a five-year wait!
Volume 202 is set to launch on September 4th, followed by Volume 203 on October 2nd. For a completed series, releasing two new tankobon volumes consecutively is quite the rare treat!
In other exciting news, the official 50th-anniversary website is rolling out a brand-new feature: the "Full Panel Search."
This innovative "Full Panel Search" function allows users to directly search for and display specific manga panels using character dialogue or related keywords – a truly unprecedented move for a manga series! What's more, Weekly Shonen Jump #36 will also include a special booklet titled "Jump Series Artists' Picks: My Favorite 'Kochikame' Chapters!!"
This booklet will feature recommendations from numerous active Jump manga artists, including "One Piece" creator Eiichiro Oda, sharing their favorite "Kochikame" stories. These recommended chapters will also be available for free on Shueisha's e-book platform, "Zebrack," until August 31st. Readers can simply scan the QR code provided in the booklet to access them.
