Reki Kawahara's "Demons' Crest" Anime Adaptation Hits Prime Video in November, Featuring Ado's Theme Song "Shinka"

From the mind behind mega-hits like "Sword Art Online" and "Accel World," Reki Kawahara's latest light novel, "Demons' Crest" (デモンズ・クレスト), which launched after 2022, was already slated for a TV anime adaptation late last year.

Today (7/5) at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles, the official announcement dropped: the "Demons' Crest" anime will stream exclusively worldwide on Prime Video starting November 6, 2026! Alongside this exciting news, they unveiled the main visual, the first PV, and revealed that superstar Ado will perform the brand-new theme song, "Shinka."

The "Demons' Crest" light novel (デモンズ・クレスト) first hit shelves in November 2022 from KADOKAWA. A manga adaptation, with story concepts by Shika Takano and art by TOmoe, followed soon after.

The story plunges us into an isolated space where "reality" merges with the world's first full-dive VRMMO-RPG, "Actual Magic." Protagonist Yuma Ashihara, initially just having a blast testing the game with his classmates, finds himself in utter confusion when his beautiful classmate, Sumika Watamaki, appears before him. But her appearance has tragically transformed. She looks exactly like a "monster" from the game... "—This is a game, and also reality."

The newly released main visual perfectly captures the series' core concept. On one side, we see the four protagonists joyfully exploring the VRMMO-RPG "Actual Magic" game world. On the other, it shows Yuma Ashihara, sensing something amiss and looking back into a reality filled with palpable unease, symbolizing the unsettling coexistence of these two worlds.

The official announcement also revealed the main voice cast:

Yuma Ashihara: Haruka Shiraishi

Saha Ashihara: Konomi Inagaki

Kenji Kondo: Yuya Hirose

Minagi Chano: Satomi Amano

The PV kicks off with Yuma Ashihara and his friends having a blast in "Actual Magic." However, when the scene abruptly shifts back to reality, the mood takes an immediate dark turn. In this world where "reality" and "game" are merging and eroding each other, monsters that shouldn't exist in the real world begin to attack Yuma and his group.

The PV also features the first listen of the opening theme song, "Shinka," performed by Ado. Its fast-paced and powerful rhythm perfectly amplifies the series' thrilling and tense atmosphere.

Additionally, Ado, who performs the theme song, shared a special message:

"I'm incredibly thrilled that my new song, 'Shinka,' has been chosen as the opening theme for the 'Demons' Crest' anime. This track was specially created for the series by VOCALOID producer Yurii Kanon. The song explores what truly lies within our hearts, what is real, and what is merely an illusion in a world where reality and games intertwine. Even amidst anxiety and struggle, it's about choosing to trust yourself and move forward. I hope everyone looks forward to 'Demons' Crest' and 'Shinka'!"

Production I.G is handling the anime production, with Shinji Ushiro, known for directing "Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro 2nd Attack," serving as chief director. Kenichiro Komaya is the director, Eiji Umehara is in charge of series composition, and Yukiko Horiguchi is handling character design.

This marks the third light novel by Reki Kawahara to receive an anime adaptation. (And yes, fans of his previous works know he's got a few plot threads still dangling!) With this one confirmed for exclusive worldwide streaming on Prime Video, fans will definitely want to mark their calendars!
