Marvel Studios' long-gestating "Blade" reboot, which was announced in 2019 with two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali attached to star, has reportedly been shelved after seven years in development. The project, plagued by numerous writer and director changes, is now officially canceled. Many fans were eagerly anticipating Blade's return to the big screen and are understandably disappointed, a sentiment shared by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige himself.
Feige recently discussed the "Blade" project's fate during an interview on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast.
Additionally, for the past two years, rumors have circulated that "Avengers: Secret Wars" might be split into two parts. Feige clarified that Marvel has no such plans. Another persistent rumor suggested a complete MCU reboot after "Secret Wars," but Feige also debunked this, stating, "I always draw narrative inspiration from the comics, and after two 'Secret Wars' comic runs — especially the one from a decade ago — we already have an excellent blueprint to follow."
