Capcom's new sci-fi action-adventure game, Pragmata, has delivered impressive results since its launch, selling over 2.51 million units globally in just three months. This is a solid performance for a brand-new IP and has quickly raised the likelihood of a sequel.
According to Bloomberg, a Capcom executive director stated while discussing the latest financial results that the chances for a follow-up to Pragmata are high. While no official sequel plans have been announced, this statement is widely regarded as a clear positive signal.
Capcom USA COO Rob Dyer previously commented on the game's future, stating, “We're at a point now where Capcom has another IP that it can continue to develop. Capcom really has an arsenal at its disposal.” He also noted that the game underwent six years of development, but the final outcome was “worth the effort.”
Set in a near-future lunar research station, Pragmata follows protagonist Hugh and robot girl Diana as they team up to escape. Its core gameplay revolves around shooting, hacking puzzles, and dual-character cooperation.
Beyond the success of its new IP, Capcom's Resident Evil series continues to be a strong seller. Resident Evil Requiem has reached 8 million units, Resident Evil 4 Remake has accumulated 16 million units, and Resident Evil 2 Remake leads the series with 19.75 million units sold. Following the release of its latest financial report, Capcom's stock price surged by 19% at one point, further reflecting market confidence in its game lineup.
