Gluttony Manga "I Love Eating So Much! Mochizuki-san" Gets TV Anime Adaptation by Passione

Maruyono Kamome's gluttonous manga, "I Love Eating So Much! Mochizuki-san," has been gobbling up attention with its "all-you-can-eat, push-it-to-the-limit" forbidden food style.

On August 4, the official announcement dropped: it's getting a TV anime adaptation! Studio Passione, known for hits like "Spice and Wolf" and "A Playthrough of a Certain Dude's VRMMO Life," will be handling the animation. To celebrate, original author Maruyono Kamome also shared a special congratulatory illustration and a commemorative manga.

Created by Maruyono Kamome, "I Love Eating So Much! Mochizuki-san" only began serialization in Hakusensha's "Young Animal" in May 2024. While it might look like a lighthearted food manga, protagonist Mikoto Mochizuki navigates a high-pressure society by finding ultimate bliss through a unique concept: "excessive calorie intake leading directly to a state of pure happiness."

This kind of extreme eating is incredibly rare even in manga history, garnering significant attention right from its early serialization. Some even worried it might inspire copycats, but its unique appeal quickly propelled it to high popularity, making it a boundary-pushing, forbidden food comedy. It's not just a hit; it's been nominated for the "Next Manga Award" two years in a row and has sparked heated discussions across social media platforms.

What's more, the series has already snagged collaborations with various companies, including a team-up with 7-ELEVEN that brought us three limited-edition rice balls and two bento boxes, further fueling the buzz.

The congratulatory illustration, released alongside the announcement, shows Mochizuki-san absolutely devouring fried chicken. The commemorative manga, meanwhile, perfectly captures her signature foodie spirit, depicting her internal struggle when faced with a banquet of food prepared for the anime celebration: "I want to eat it all right now..." It's a moment that's sure to bring a smile to any fan's face.

Author Maruyono Kamome also drew a special manga celebrating the anime adaptation, naturally featuring a table piled high with jumbo-sized delicacies, showcasing the series' unique charm.

This gluttony-centric series has clearly captured a ton of attention on social media, leading to its speedy anime adaptation. No premiere date has been announced yet, so fans will have to stay tuned for official updates!
