For over a decade, Ryan Reynolds has famously poked fun at his starring role in the 2011 DC film "Green Lantern," even orchestrating a "Deadpool 2" post-credits scene where Deadpool travels back in time to shoot his past self before taking on the role. However, with the upcoming HBO series "Lanterns," Reynolds now views that experience in a completely different light.

During the premiere of his new film "Mayday," Reynolds was asked by Entertainment Tonight about a potential cameo in "Lanterns."
He shared his thoughts on the original film and his willingness to return:
Reynolds went on to state that his entire career and everything he has achieved is owed to that film. He described "Green Lantern" as "the gift that keeps on giving" and revealed that he actually thoroughly enjoyed the filming process back then.
Beyond career experience, "Green Lantern" holds another significant meaning in Reynolds' personal life: it was during the film's production that he met his current wife, Blake Lively. In the movie, Reynolds played Hal Jordan, while Lively portrayed Carol Ferris.

Interestingly, "Green Lantern" director Martin Campbell has also previously expressed regret over the final product, though he believed the film could have been great if Reynolds had written the script himself. Now, Reynolds' years of self-deprecating humor appear to be evolving into a re-affirmation of that "failed" experience.
