The beloved Suica Penguin, who has been accompanying travelers since Suica's debut in 2001, is set to retire as Suica's official mascot at the end of fiscal year 2026, specifically by late March 2027. Before its official graduation, Tokyo Station's shopping complex, GRANSTA Tokyo, will host the very last "Suica Penguin Fair FINAL" (SuicaのペンギンフェアFINAL) from September 23 to October 21. This grand farewell will feature 24 types of sweets and merchandise, including 10 brand-new items, all designed to say "Thank you" and "Good job" to this cherished friend of 25 years.
Leading the charge in this emotional send-off is the Suica Penguin Caramel Butter Sandwich Cookie from (NO) RAISIN SANDWICH. These delightful treats come in four tin designs: "Thank You," "I Love You," "Good Work," and "Take a Break." Each tin contains three sandwich cookies; the first two designs feature a raisin caramel flavor, while the latter two offer a chocolate apricot flavor. Each box retails for 1,780 yen. And the best part? The adorable tins can be repurposed for storing small items, ensuring your farewell message lasts long after the last cookie is gone.
Next up, the Suica Print Chocolates transform the iconic green IC card into a charming tin, packed with eight chocolates each featuring a different Suica Penguin expression, priced at 864 yen. The sweet lineup also includes limited-edition Suica Penguin castella cakes, fried manju in a handled box, a suitcase-shaped chocolate tin, and Ladurée pistachio macarons adorned with three random penguin expressions. From the delicious contents to the keepsake containers, these treats perfectly capture the essence of Tokyo Station souvenirs.
Among the merchandise, the "Hobonichi Techo" series truly stands out. The "Hobonichi Techo Weeks Suica Penguin / Tokyo" features the Tokyo Station Marunouchi Building as its backdrop, with a matte brick-red cover accented by glossy penguin illustrations. The Japanese version retails for 3,190 yen, and the English version for 3,300 yen. There's also a mini keychain version of the techo, shrunk to about one-tenth its size but still fully writable when opened, priced at 1,320 yen.
Other items include an acrylic keychain inscribed with "Thank You," penguin-walking-themed stickers, a small furoshiki cloth with face and polka dot patterns, embroidered handkerchiefs and pins, and an Inden coin purse. Instead of simply featuring a commemorative year, most of these items express farewell through expressions, actions, and grateful messages, ensuring they can seamlessly integrate into your planners, apparel, or daily life for years to come.
During the event, customers who use Suica or other transportation IC card e-payments for a single purchase of 2,000 yen or more at participating stores will receive a random black or white "Suica Penguin Original Ballpoint Pen." This gift is not limited to purchases of event-specific items or Suica Penguin merchandise, but transactions cannot be combined, and each customer is limited to one pen per transaction.
