Tatsuki Fujimoto's acclaimed short manga, Look Back, has seen its animated film adaptation receive widespread praise. Last December, a live-action film adaptation was also announced, directed by renowned filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda, which premiered in Japan on September 11.
The live-action film is also dropping a second theatrical bonus: a 64-page booklet titled "Special Booklet Volume1," available starting September 18. This jam-packed booklet features the complete 41-page version of "Metal Parade," the manga created by protagonists Fujino and Kyomoto within the film, alongside a creative discussion between Tatsuki Fujimoto and director Hirokazu Kore-eda, and much more.

Beyond a "Creative Discussion" between original author Tatsuki Fujimoto and director Hirokazu Kore-eda, which explores themes different from those in the cinema pamphlet, the booklet also includes three special conversations featuring director Kore-eda with Natsuki Deguchi and Aju Makita, respectively.
What's more, the short manga "Metal Parade"—where Fujino handled characters and story, Kyomoto took on backgrounds, and the duo first submitted their work to "Weekly Shonen Jump" under the pen name "Fujino Kyo"—will be included in its complete 41-page version within the booklet.
In the original manga, "Metal Parade" was only depicted with its title page and a story synopsis on the award page. However, for the live-action film, the production team meticulously brought this in-story manga to life, from storyboards and drafts all the way to the final artwork, fully illustrating the creative process behind the work.
The original manga was handled by Look Back author Tatsuki Fujimoto, while the story was managed by Mix Green (ミックスグリーン), represented by Shihei Lin, the editor in charge of Look Back. The artwork was provided by manga artist Nomichi Nishimura, who previously drew the four-panel manga featured in the film.
In addition to detailing the production process of "Metal Parade," the booklet will also feature partial explanations for other short works created by "Fujino Kyo," including "Towns with Seas" (海のある町々), "Cicada Human" (セミ人間), and "Mole Boy" (もぐら少年).
"Special Booklet Volume1" will be distributed uniformly across all screenings—standard, Dolby Cinema, and Dolby Atmos—starting September 18. Each moviegoer is limited to one booklet per viewing, and quantities are limited, so grab yours while supplies last!
Furthermore, the first theatrical bonus, "Tatsuki Fujimoto's Newly Drawn A5 Visual Card," is currently being distributed and is expected to run until September 17. This bonus is also limited in quantity and available only while supplies last.
