On the 16th, the official Dragon Quest account announced on X that the series has officially surpassed 100 million units in cumulative sales, perfectly coinciding with its 40th anniversary. They also released a video featuring game designer Yuji Horii, famously known as the "Father of Dragon Quest," where he expressed his joy and gratitude to fans who have supported the series throughout its journey.
In the video, Yuji Horii stated:
"I can't believe the Dragon Quest series has surpassed 100 million units in cumulative sales! This achievement is all thanks to the players who have supported us every step of the way, and to the staff who have accompanied and supported the series. Thank you all so much. When I made the first Dragon Quest 40 years ago, I never dreamed we'd reach this point. I'm truly overwhelmed with emotion. Please continue to support the Dragon Quest series in the future!”
He also mentioned "Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince," scheduled for release on December 3rd this year, hoping players will enjoy the currently available demo while eagerly awaiting the official launch.
