JR Tokai Teams Up with Mobile Suit Gundam Wing for "Oshi-tabi" Project! Fans Joke: "These Guys Are Dangerous Endorsers!"

Everyone surely remembers Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, affectionately dubbed a "bishounen group" by fans. Back then, not only were the characters incredibly cool, but even their voice actors became beloved by fans, making it a rare Gundam series that truly captivated female audiences.

It was recently announced that JR Tokai is launching a collaboration project with Japan's Tokaido Shinkansen, titled "JR Tokai 'Oshi-tabi' x Mobile Suit Gundam Wing OPERATION TOKAIDO," officially kicking off on October 20th. This unexpected partnership has sparked a lot of fan banter, with many joking, "These guys endorsing a train feels really dangerous!" — instantly making the collaboration a hot topic.

The "Oshi-tabi" project is a long-running JR Tokai initiative that frequently collaborates with popular anime titles. During the event period, passengers on the Tokaido Shinkansen can enjoy exclusive in-train voice content featuring Mobile Suit Gundam Wing characters.

What's more, by tuning into the special voice content, you'll snag one random original "Metallic Card" (from a set of six designs)! Plus, if you check in at the six Nozomi-stopping stations—Tokyo, Shinagawa, Shin-Yokohama, Nagoya, Kyoto, and Shin-Osaka—you can also grab one of six exclusive mobile wallpapers.

And that's not all! Original collaboration merchandise will also be available at "EDITH ANIME SHOP" and "Gamers Nagoya." The event is set to run from October 20, 2026, to January 17, 2027.

Naturally, collaborations like this always draw fans to pilgrimage and ride the trains. But this time, with Mobile Suit Gundam Wing at the helm—specifically, the five Gundam pilots alongside Relena—fans are hilariously quipping, "I have a bad feeling it's going to explode!" and "Each of these guys has the potential to turn the train into a crisis..."

Just Heero Yuy alone is practically a walking death flag...

While everyone's just having a laugh, it really highlights how Mobile Suit Gundam Wing still boasts immense popularity even thirty years later, allowing for this kind of playful banter and entertainment through collaborations. As for personal safety... will it really be smooth sailing with these six characters on board?
