The anime adaptation of the light novel, Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian, which aired in 2024, had its second season originally slated for 2026. However, in February of this year, it was announced that the broadcast would be postponed to 2027 to further enhance the quality of the production.
On the 20th, the official team finally dropped the first teaser promotional video for "Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian" Season 2, along with the full production staff lineup. While it's still tentatively set for a 2027 release, the exact month is yet to be revealed.
The official announcement also revealed that Hiroshi Haraguchi, who handled animation direction and episode direction for the first season, will be stepping up as director for Season 2. What's wild is that this marks his first directorial gig in nearly a decade, with his last being 2014's "Laughing Under the Clouds". He commented that the first season was outstanding and he's currently working hard with the entire team on this new production.
They also teased that Season 2 will be packed with events like summer vacation, training camps, swimsuits, a new school term, new uniforms, and a culture festival! Fans, get ready for a ton of fun!
In another change-up, the script supervisor role, previously held by Season 1 director Ryota Itoh, will now be taken over by Yuka Yamada, known for her work on the "Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid" series. Otherwise, the character designs and music staff remain the same as the first season.
This teaser PV also features a few brand-new scenes! For now, the official word is just a 2027 broadcast, so expect more updates to drop later. You'll just have to hang tight for a bit longer!
