Known for rolling out fresh collaborations every year, Universal Studios Japan (USJ) never fails to pack its annual Universal Cool Japan event with surprises—and draw huge crowds of fans to the park.
On October 1, USJ revealed the second wave of its Universal Cool Japan 2027 lineup, announcing another collaboration with the anime The Apothecary Diaries alongside a brand-new key visual. The news follows the previous day's reveal of a collaboration with Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, giving fans two new titles in two days.

This marks the second collaboration between The Apothecary Diaries and USJ. The limited-time event will run from February 10 to June 30, 2027.
Tying into the December 11, 2026 theatrical release of The Apothecary Diaries: The Deceased Empress' Treasure (working title; Japanese title: 劇場版 薬屋のひとりごと 亡妃の秘宝), the collaboration will introduce an all-new immersive experience.

The 2025 attraction The Apothecary Diaries Mystery Walk: A Dose of Deception, which invited guests to solve a case alongside Maomao, is getting a complete overhaul. Inspired by the movie opening this winter, the new experience will transport guests to a city on the water, where the story's protagonists will appear right before their eyes as if they have stepped directly out of the anime.
Guests will be able to dive headfirst into the world of The Apothecary Diaries for a one-of-a-kind, hyper-real immersive experience available only at USJ.

USJ also teased more collaborations with popular anime and video games, with announcements covering exclusive merchandise and themed food still to come.
Universal Cool Japan 2027 will run from December 2, 2026 to April 5, 2027. Anyone hoping to experience the atmosphere in person may want to start planning that Osaka trip now.
