God of War: Laufey Fan Slams Armor for "Not Showing Enough" — Daredevil's Kingpin Defends Deborah Ann Woll

"God of War: Laufey," the upcoming title from Sony's Santa Monica Studio, has once again found itself at the center of an online controversy.

The latest backlash began when X user Geralt of Goonia (@GeraltofGoonia) criticized the special armor worn by Deborah Ann Woll's Laufey for not showing enough skin. The user shared the complaint on X, formerly Twitter, prompting an unexpected response from Vincent D'Onofrio, who plays Kingpin in "Daredevil."

D'Onofrio previously starred as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, in Netflix and Marvel's "Daredevil," while Woll played Karen Page. After years of working together on the series, D'Onofrio stepped in to defend his former costar against attacks targeting her appearance and the game's costume design.

The exchange quickly spread across the gaming community, with numerous players rallying behind Woll and firing back at the original poster with memes.

This is hardly the first controversy surrounding the game. God of War creator David Jaffe recently called it stupid during a livestream and accused creative director Ariel Lawrence of lacking passion. He later clarified his remarks and defended Lawrence against online harassment. "The Last of Us" director Bruce Straley also cited the title as an example of why modern AAA games no longer excite him. He later issued a public apology, saying he should not have brought the team unsolicited and unnecessary negative attention.

Woll addressed the online backlash herself while appearing at Florida Supercon in July 2026. "Honestly, I thought I would be more offended by all of this. But first, I'm not on social media, so that helps. And second, I don't know—I feel totally unbothered because I just know it's great."

"If it's not your thing, that's fine. But in no universe is it bad."

"God of War: Laufey" launches for PS5 on February 16, 2027.
