Japan national football team midfielder Takefusa Kubo and actress Haruka Fukuhara announced their marriage in a joint Instagram post on October 2. With no previous reports that the two were dating, the surprise announcement caught fans and the media completely off guard.
In the post, the couple expressed their gratitude and said they hoped to support each other and build a warm home filled with smiles.

Their statement read: "We have both received support and help from so many people since childhood, allowing us to become who we are today." They continued: "Although we still have much to learn, we will never forget our gratitude to everyone. We hope to support one another and build a warm family filled with smiles."
They concluded: "We would be deeply grateful if you continued to watch over us warmly as a married couple. Thank you for your continued support."

Fukuhara, 28, began her career as a child actor in first grade. She later appeared in the film "Let's Go, JETS! From Small Town Girls to U.S. Champions?!" as well as the television dramas "The Honest Realtor" and the live-action "Laid-Back Camp" television and film series.
Fukuhara also played the lead role in the 2022 NHK morning drama "Soar High!" She has also built a career as a voice actor, voicing Himari Arisugawa, also known as Cure Custard, in the anime series "Kira Kira☆Pretty Cure A La Mode" .

Kubo, 25, began his soccer career with Kawasaki Frontale U-12. He later spent time with Spanish clubs including FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, and currently plays for La Liga side Real Sociedad. He was also selected for Japan's 2022 and 2026 FIFA World Cup squads.
