平野綾 Shares "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" Cast Reunion at SOS Brigade Birthday Bash, Fans Get Emotional Over Their 20-Year Bond

Created by author Nagaru Tanigawa, the Haruhi Suzumiya series is a defining light novel classic. Its anime adaptation is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, marking two decades since it became a gateway into anime and gaming fandom for countless fans.

平野綾 recently updated her X account with photos showing the voice cast of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya back together again. Fans were thrilled to see the iconic cast sharing the same frame, with many marveling that the group could still reunite 20 years later.

平野綾, the voice of lead character Haruhi Suzumiya, shared photos from the gathering on her personal X account. She wrote:

“The joint SOS Brigade birthday party is officially happening! Since Haruhi, Kyon, Kyon's Sister, and that idiot Taniguchi all have October birthdays, Yuki, Mikuru, Koizumi, and Kunikida celebrated with us. With all the 20th-anniversary events this year, the five of us have had plenty of chances to get together—but having dinner with this particular group... Could it really have been 20 years since the last time!? I was so happy that everyone gave me the best birthday celebration. No matter how much time passes, I’ll always love you all.”

Fans flooded the post with excited comments about the star-studded reunion: “What an incredible lineup,” “I’m so happy they still get together as this group,” “Just seeing everyone happily sharing a meal is enough to make me cry,” and “Seeing them all together like this makes us fans happy too.”

The photos feature several voice actors from the series gathered around the same table, and it is easy to see just how close the SOS Brigade cast remains. Maintaining that kind of bond decades after working together on a show is something truly special.
