Angel Studios co-founder Jeff Harmon has announced that the independent faith-based studio will ban sex scenes, nudity, the F-word and taking God’s name in vain from its productions going forward.
In a recent interview with Fox News, Harmon said Hollywood largely exists in a bubble. While he praised its filmmakers as highly skilled craftspeople and among the world’s best storytellers, he argued that the industry has increasingly drifted away from the values-driven audiences it once served. Speaking as both a brother and a father, Harmon said Hollywood has failed to consistently deliver the kind of entertainment he wants. Good movies still emerge from time to time, he added, but audiences must sift through a vast amount of content to find worthwhile films and stories. Angel Studios, he pledged, will never feature nudity or on-screen sex—a commitment he described as unprecedented in Hollywood history.

Harmon also explained the studio’s decision to prohibit taking God’s name in vain. He said Angel Studios intends to uphold a principle that has endured for thousands of years and emphasized that the company considers itself a faith-friendly studio. According to Harmon, no Angel original—including any film or television series originating with the studio—will misuse God’s name, allowing religious families to trust that such language will not appear in its productions.
Although Angel Studios is not a major Hollywood studio, it has released several box-office successes and star-driven movies, including “Sound of Freedom,” starring Jim Caviezel, and the more recent Owen Wilson action film “Runner.”
