Regarding this evolution, Giancarlo Esposito, known for his role as Moff Gideon in "The Mandalorian" and famously as Gus Fring, expressed optimism about the series' future trajectory.
While Esposito's return for "The Mandalorian & Grogu" film remains unconfirmed, he recently spoke at DragonCon, suggesting that the concept of converging "Star Wars" storylines mirrors the approach taken by the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“I feel like this is a little bit like the MCU,” Giancarlo Esposito stated. “Disney always finds a way to bring these characters together in a great movie or a great television show, and I think that’s the way 'The Mandalorian' is going to go. The movie that Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau are doing together, I think that’s where it all comes together, and then it births… maybe a trilogy, or more movies.”
Details surrounding "The Mandalorian & Grogu" film are scarce, though earlier reports indicated that veteran actress Sigourney Weaver, known for her roles in the "Alien" and "Avatar" franchises, is reportedly in talks to join the project in an undisclosed role.
