First Look at 'Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man' Prequel Comic Reveals Young Peter Parker's First Supervillain Fight

Following Marvel Studios' recent announcements for Disney+ series like "Daredevil: Born Again," "Ironheart," and "Wonder Man," Marvel Comics has revealed a five-issue prequel comic for the upcoming animated series "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man." The limited series will launch ahead of the show's 2025 premiere, with the first issue set to be released on December 11, 2024.

In anticipation of the launch, Marvel Comics has officially released the main cover, variant covers, and several interior preview pages for the first issue. The sneak peek showcases a newly-powered young Peter Parker saving a cat from a falling can and also teases his first-ever battle with a supervillain. These events may be referenced in the animated series when it airs.

The "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" animated series is set during Peter Parker's freshman year of high school. Although it is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Five, it exists in a parallel universe separate from the one featuring Tom Holland's Spider-Man. In this reality, Norman Osborn will serve as Peter Parker's mentor.

As for the voice cast, Hudson Thames will voice this version of Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man. He previously voiced the character in another Marvel animated series, "What If...?."
