Idris Elba Wants to Reunite with Keanu Reeves for Video Game Movie: "It Has to Be 'Cyberpunk 2077'!"

To promote the upcoming third live-action video game adaptation, "Sonic the Hedgehog," Idris Elba, who portrays the red echidna "Knuckles," recently sat down for an interview with Screen Rant.

Given that Keanu Reeves, who voices "Shadow" in "Sonic 3," previously collaborated with Idris Elba in the video game "Cyberpunk 2077," interviewer Joe Deckelmeier asked Elba during the discussion if he would be open to reuniting with Reeves, who portrayed "Johnny Silverhand," in a future live-action adaptation.

"Oh, that's a really good question. If I had to pick a video game live-action movie, it has to be 'Cyberpunk 2077'!" Elba responded. "I think if my character appeared with his, it would definitely be a huge surprise. So, I'm very willing to make that idea a reality."

In CD Projekt Red's "Phantom Liberty" DLC for "Cyberpunk 2077," Idris Elba portrays Solomon Reed, an NUSA agent tasked with working alongside V to locate the missing netrunner Songbird (Song So Mi).

Should players choose to "betray Reed" and complete the "King of Wands" ending, Reed meets his demise at V's hand. Conversely, if players opt for any ending other than "King of Wands," Reed survives, though his fate and identity vary depending on the chosen path.

Regarding a live-action "Cyberpunk 2077" film, it was announced in October 2023 that it was in development, a collaboration with Anonymous Content, the production team behind "The Revenant." However, this live-action project is positioned similarly to the animated series "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners," meaning it won't be a direct adaptation but rather a story set within the same universe as the original tabletop game and video game. This suggests that the likelihood of Idris Elba's wish coming true might be low.
