Marvel Rivals: "Capture the Flag" Mode Reportedly Coming; NetEase Previously Hinted at Fourth Game Mode

"Marvel Rivals," the third-person PvP game co-developed by Marvel Games and NetEase, has quickly become one of the hottest live-service titles since its December 5, 2024 launch. In less than a month, the game has already attracted over 20 million players and consistently ranks among the top five most-played games on Steam, trailing only "Palworld." Player reception has been overwhelmingly positive, with 80% of users giving it an "Extremely Positive" rating.

While players currently have access to three primary game modes—Domination, Convoy, and Convergence (which blends elements of the first two)—reports indicate that the development team plans to introduce a highly anticipated fourth mode: "Capture the Flag."

The initial rumor originated from prominent game data miner X0XLEAK (@X0X_LEAK), who reportedly discovered evidence of a new "Capture the Flag" mode within "Marvel Rivals'" backend data.

X0XLEAK has a history of accurately leaking upcoming content for the game, including new maps like Krakoa, Arakko, and New York. Additionally, characters such as Deadpool, Captain Marvel, Mister Fantastic, Hit-Monkey, and Valkyrie are also rumored to be joining the "Marvel Rivals" roster.

While these leaks remain unconfirmed by official sources, NetEase previously hinted that a fourth game mode was in development for the free-to-play multiplayer title. If "Capture the Flag" is indeed implemented, it could feature unique mechanics that leverage the diverse abilities and playstyles of each Marvel hero, distinguishing it from traditional "Capture the Flag" modes found in other games.
