Angela Bassett, who recently starred alongside Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons in the upcoming Netflix series "Zero Day", recently sat down with Town & Country magazine for an interview to promote the show. During the conversation, Bassett was once again asked about her feelings regarding her highly anticipated Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" two years ago, and her eventual loss.

Bassett's reaction to not winning was particularly memorable because when Jamie Lee Curtis's name was called for "Everything Everywhere All at Once" during the ceremony, Bassett remained still, visibly saddened, while others cheered and applauded. Many online users found her reaction striking, with some criticizing her for being a poor sport.

In the interview, Bassett admitted her disappointment at the time. She stated that she found it interesting that she wasn't "allowed to be disappointed" when she didn't receive what she felt she deserved. She explained that while she usually enjoys applauding others, in that moment, she simply didn't want to. Bassett emphasized that she had put in a lot of hard work and didn't view a potential win as a gift, but rather as something that would have been "rightfully hers."
