All-Star Cast Returns for "The Silent Service: Battle of the Arctic Ocean" Live-Action Film, New Visual & Teaser Revealed

Following the acclaimed 2023 live-action series The Silent Service Season 1: The Battle of Tokyo Bay, starring Takao Osawa, Hiroshi Tamaki, and Aya Ueto, the saga is set to continue on the big screen. The sequel film, "The Silent Service: Battle of the Arctic Ocean," was announced late last year, and now it's diving into the spotlight.

Today (March 12), the official channels dropped a brand-new key visual and a teaser trailer, confirming that many of the main cast members will be returning. The film is scheduled to hit theaters in Japan on September 26, 2025.

Based on the classic manga by Kaiji Kawaguchi that ran from the mid-1980s to the '90s, The Silent Service is a tense submarine warfare epic. The story delves deep into complex themes like nuclear strategy and international politics, earning a dedicated fanbase despite its serious tone. It was previously adapted into an OVA series.

The first season featured an all-star lineup, with Takao Osawa as protagonist Shiro Kaieda, alongside Hiroshi Tamaki, Yosuke Eguchi, Aya Ueto, Tomoya Nakamura, Asami Mizukawa, Yusuke Santamaria, Aoi Nakamura, Takashi Sasano, Yui Natsukawa, Yoshi Sakou, and Isao Hashizume.

This sequel is gearing up to tackle a whole new chapter, escalating the scale and drama. The film will adapt two of the most electrifying arcs from the original manga:
"Battle of the Arctic Ocean" — A high-stakes torpedo battle unfolds in the frigid waters as state-of-the-art submarines clash!
"The Yamato Election" — A political firestorm that once sparked public debate, this storyline will see international tensions rise to a boiling point!

Takao Osawa is back as Shiro Kaieda, and he's not alone. Several key players are returning to their roles!

Aya Ueto as journalist Hiromi Ichitani — In pursuit of the truth, she leaves her TV station job to become a freelance journalist.
Aoi Nakamura as Eiji Yamanaka, Executive Officer of the submarine *Yamato* — Kaieda's right-hand man and a master of submarine operations.
Takashi Sasano as Prime Minister Toshio Takegami — After dissolving the general election, he decides to continue his alliance with the *Yamato*.
Yui Natsukawa as Defense Minister Hitomi Sonezaki — She parts ways with Takegami, determined to uphold the principle of "defending one's own country."
Yoshi Sakou as Foreign Minister Seiji Kageyama — He also leaves Takegami's side to join the conservative faction.
Yosuke Eguchi as Chief Cabinet Secretary Wataru Unabara — Takegami's trusted advisor and a major power player in the political world.
Kou Maehara as Takuo Mizoguchi, Sonarman of the *Yamato* — A calm and composed submarine warfare specialist.
Kodai Matsuoka as Satoshi Irie, IC Man of the *Yamato*.
