Toshiaki Karasawa Spills on 30 Years with Tomoko Yamaguchi: "No Complaints, But She Tossed All My Games!"

They just hit their 30th wedding anniversary, and for many fans, they're the ultimate "power couple" of Japanese entertainment: Toshiaki Karasawa and Tomoko Yamaguchi. Marrying at the peak of their careers, Karasawa remains a fixture in the industry, while Yamaguchi, though taking fewer acting roles, still graces commercials.

Recently, Karasawa attended an ad launch event for a product he endorses, where he dished on his and Tomoko Yamaguchi's journey into their 30th year of marriage, playfully recounting their "pearl anniversary" romance.

▼ Karasawa recently participated in the "Go! Go! Rally" antique car rally in Kumamoto, which he initiated to raise funds for earthquake relief in the area.

When asked what he's been consistently dedicated to besides acting, Karasawa paused before saying, "Probably my marriage? This year marks 30 years."

Toshiaki Karasawa and Tomoko Yamaguchi tied the knot in 1995, officially hitting their 30-year milestone in 2025. The host immediately offered congratulations, to which Karasawa chuckled, "There's nothing really to congratulate." He added that they had actually dated for seven years before marriage. "I figured everyone has their quirks, so I wanted to observe her first. When no issues popped up, I decided to go for it."

When asked, "So, have there been any complaints in your marriage?" Karasawa didn't hesitate: "Absolutely none." The host praised him as a "model husband," but he quickly laughed, "Nah, I've definitely messed up before." He then confessed, "I used to be super into gaming, and she yelled at me for it. She even threw out my entire game collection."

Karasawa also declared, "Guys just get hooked on games, it's just how we're wired!" But when the host asked, "So you gave up gaming for your marriage?" he gave a helpless look and said, "I didn't give them up, she just trashed them all!" His humorous tone had the entire room roaring with laughter.

Karasawa's gaming obsession is legendary. He once dislocated his thumb trying to master Ryu's Hadoken and Shoryuken in "Street Fighter II," only to pop it back in and keep playing. He even kept gaming when his industry friend Takuya Kimura visited his house. He's previously joked on variety shows that his gaming habit almost led to divorce.

Despite the gaming purge, it's clear he's incredibly grateful for his marriage. If he can joke about his games being tossed, it seems he's truly learned his lesson!
