The 2021 box office sleeper hit "The Black Phone," which grossed over $160 million worldwide, is set to return to the big screen this fall with a sequel. Today, Universal Pictures unveiled the first trailer and a teaser poster (pictured below) for the highly anticipated follow-up. While the first installment was adapted from Joe Hill's (Stephen King's son) 2004 short story of the same name, the original source material was a standalone narrative with no sequels, making the film's follow-up an entirely new, extended story.

The official synopsis reads: "The Grabber, seeking revenge on Finney, claws his way out of the grave and sets his sights on Finney's sister, Gwen. Now 17, Finney is still haunted by the trauma of his past abduction. His strong-willed sister, Gwen, now 15, begins receiving calls on the black phone in her dreams and seeing disturbing visions: three boys attending a winter camp called Alpine Lake are being stalked by a mysterious entity.

To unravel the mystery and end the torment she and her brother endure, Gwen convinces Finney to journey to the camp during a winter blizzard. There, she uncovers a shocking connection between The Grabber and their family's history. Now, she and Finney must confront this killer, whose power has grown stronger in death and whose significance to them is far greater than they ever imagined."
