The latest Gundam anime, "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX," which premiered this season in 2025, is now deep into its latter half. Its high-octane action and mysterious plot twists have sparked massive buzz among fans, naturally leading to soaring merchandise sales.
The "Red Gundam," piloted by Char & Shuji Ito in the series, turned heads the moment its design was revealed. Its radically different look from previous mobile suits had everyone wondering how it would perform on screen. Now, Japanese X user "Tetsu" (@kurogane_og) has sent the internet into a frenzy by sharing their incredible origami "Red Gundam" model. What's truly jaw-dropping? This seemingly perfect Gundam replica is meticulously crafted from over 400 individual origami parts!

Tetsu is a master of origami, meticulously hand-crafting each and every component. While he admits that paper might not fully capture the Red Gundam's inherent mechanical feel, he sees it as a unique creative challenge. From the foundational skeleton to the final assembly, every essential element of the mobile suit is present and accounted for, a testament to his incredible dedication to detail.

The real kicker? Tetsu shared a work-in-progress photo, revealing, "It took over 400 parts in total, all folded from paper." The sheer intricacy rivals even Gunpla kits, leaving netizens absolutely floored and exclaiming, "That's insane!"
Responding to the outpouring of praise, Tetsu graciously replied, "Thanks for all the attention! The color blocking was definitely a huge effort, and getting the spherical shape for the Funnels was tricky, but I'll keep pushing myself!"

This isn't Tetsu's first rodeo; back in April, he wowed fans by sharing an origami rendition of another mobile suit from the same series, "GQuuuuuux." He even joked, "Gundam told me to fold it!"

As soon as the work dropped, comments flooded in, with netizens hailing its exquisite detail, claiming it rivals—or even surpasses—Gunpla. "The black and orange accents are perfectly recreated! Those Funnels are so neat, this amount of detail totally beats Gunpla…" one user exclaimed. Another chimed in, "At first glance, I couldn't even tell it was origami, the craftsmanship is god-tier!" A third fan added, "The slender proportions give off major Evangelion vibes, totally hitting me in the feels!" and yet another declared, "This level of completion is truly master-level craftsmanship!"

Tetsu also teased his next challenge: an origami version of "Kikurog," the popular mobile suit piloted by Charion Bull in the series. He emphasized, "Of course, it will have a transformation gimmick!" Looks like we've got more incredible creations to look forward to!

So, what do you think of Tetsu's mind-blowing origami "Red Gundam"? His X account is packed with tons of other amazing paper creations, so if you're curious, definitely go check it out!
