Hong Kong's emerging brand Ember Toys is set to release the latest product in its "Chibi Creature" soft vinyl figure series, based on the popular Japanese comedy masterpiece "POP TEAM EPIC": "Chibi Creature Popuko & Pipimi Spacesuit Ver."! The suggested retail price is 16,060 JPY, with an estimated release in September 2025.
"POP TEAM EPIC" is a comedic four-panel manga created by Japanese manga artist Bukubu Okawa. Its content primarily revolves around the surreal daily lives of Popuko and Pipimi, filled with absurdly over-the-top comedic scenarios and lines that are "too early for humanity." Its captivating art style is so infectious that even those unfamiliar with the original work can easily become hooked. After being adapted into a TV anime, it further surpassed the original with rich expressive techniques such as felt, claymation, classic video games, and AC-bu animations. Each episode also featured different voice actors for Popuko and Pipimi, earning it the reputation as the "worst anime ever" (in a complimentary sense).
The "Chibi Creature Popuko & Pipimi Spacesuit Ver." soft vinyl figure is based on the spacesuits from the first season of the anime and crafted according to the original character proportions. At approximately 10 cm tall for Popuko and 15 cm tall for Pipimi, the figures vividly capture their iconic large eyes and defiant W-shaped mouths. Utilizing exquisite soft vinyl molding techniques and a semi-gloss finish, the unique helmets and spacesuits are faithfully reproduced. The visors are detachable, allowing for various display options. Additionally, it comes with Popuko's submachine gun and Pipimi's hand chop replacement part, enabling the recreation of the classic scene from the show, "I told you not to shoot!"
