Over a year ago, Sony Pictures' romantic comedy "Anyone but You" became a surprise global hit, grossing $220 million worldwide. Part of that success can be attributed to a carefully orchestrated "fake romance" marketing campaign featuring stars Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, who continuously fueled media speculation that their on-screen chemistry had turned real. While both actors later admitted it was all a promotional stunt, the strategy caused real-world damage to those close to them.

Powell's ex-girlfriend, Gigi Paris (pictured above, right), recently appeared on the "Too Much" podcast to air her grievances about the "Anyone but You" publicity stunt, confirming it was the reason she ended her four-year relationship with the actor.
Paris stated that Powell and Sweeney showed her a lack of respect and publicly embarrassed her. She admitted she could have tried to be accommodating if it was crucial for their work, but what truly upset her was the way Powell and Sweeney handled the situation. Paris was especially disappointed that Powell never once publicly defended her or clarified that he wasn't cheating.

Many people still believe that Powell and Sweeney actually had sparks, and even Paris has her doubts. She questioned whether they were actually dating, calling it "insane" that they would later claim it was all PR at the expense of her relationship. Wondering aloud if it was really just for the movie, she said she genuinely hopes they end up together, because then at least her "sacrifice" would be worth it. "I hope they really did fall in love," she added.

Paris also revealed that the final straw was being forbidden from visiting Powell on the "Anyone but You" set in Australia. She recounted receiving a call from Powell, who told her, "I've discussed it with the producers, and I think it's better if you don't come visit." She said she hung up the phone immediately, thinking, "I have nothing more to say to this bastard." That call, she explained, completely broke her heart. She had thought there was still hope and that things might get better if she went to Australia, but after that conversation, she knew it was over and that she had "lost the person I loved."
