Based on Stephen King's short story of the same name, the 2007 horror movie "1408" became a sizable hit. Produced for just $25 million, the film grossed $130 million worldwide and earned largely positive reviews from audiences and critics alike. Despite that success, "1408" was never intended to launch a franchise, and King's original story has no sequel. Now, however, a follow-up movie is reportedly taking shape.

Entertainment scooper Daniel Richtman recently reported exclusively on his Patreon page that a sequel to "1408" has quietly entered development. Original stars John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson are reportedly set to reprise their roles, while Mikael Håfström is expected to return as director. Richtman did not reveal who is writing the screenplay, how the story will continue, when the film might be released or whether Dimension Films will once again handle distribution. For now, fans will have to wait for further updates.
