Knight Edge Media reports exclusively that Irish actor Peter Claffey (pictured above, right), who broke out as the lead of the "Game of Thrones" spinoff "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms," has been cast as Beast in the MCU's new "X-Men" movie.
Back in April, entertainment reporter Jeff Sneider revealed on the podcast "The Hot Mic" that Claffey was among the actors Marvel Studios was eyeing for the role. That report has now apparently been borne out, with Claffey said to have officially landed the part.

The "X-Men" reboot will be directed by "Thunderbolts* / The New Avengers" filmmaker Jake Schreier. The writing team includes Joanna Calo, who previously worked with Schreier on the first season of Netflix's "Beef," and series creator Lee Sung Jin. Calo also wrote an earlier draft of "Thunderbolts*" at Schreier's request.
