BANPRESTO, a prize figure brand under Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS company, has announced the third machine in its robot-themed model prize figure series "Genkai Toppa", the "GFreD" from the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX", slated for release in July 2025.
The gMS-κ Gundam FreD is the Gundam QuuuuuuX Unit 2 developed by the Kycilia Zabi faction of the Principality of Zeon military in the lunar city of Granada, with Nean, who joined the Zeon forces, serving as its pilot. This machine's body structure adopts the same design system as the GQuuuuuuX and is equipped with a "κ (KAPPA) type psycho-communication system" that can leverage the advantages of Newtype pilots. Not only can it intuitively control the machine through the pilot's brainwaves and remotely operate a pair of miniaturized funnel weapons on its head, but it can also connect with the strategic weapon "Iomagnus" to cause a massive "Zeck Nova" phenomenon at specific coordinates.
The "Genkai Toppa" series features large-scale finished robot models. This time, the GFreD designed by Ikuto Yamashita is produced at an impressive height of approximately 28 cm. Although it does not feature articulated joints, it largely reproduces the contours of various parts of the machine, recreating the distinct head and shoulder designs compared to the GQuuuuuuX, as well as its purple and green body color scheme, making it suitable as a large display piece to be admired from a distance.
