Tsubasa Ozora is a Dad! Yoichi Takahashi's 'Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun FINALS Arc' Sees Birth of Twins, Fans Are Pumped!

Japan's iconic sports manga, Captain Tsubasa (also known as "Captain Tsubasa" or "Flash Kicker"), has inspired countless footballers, not just in Japan but across Europe and beyond, to chase their dreams. The series continues to this day, though last January, creator Yoichi Takahashi announced that due to his declining health and changes in his creative environment, the subsequent "Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun FINALS Arc" would be updated on the "Captain Tsubasa WORLD" and "Yanjan!" websites in a pencil storyboard format.

In the recently updated Chapter 50, protagonist Tsubasa Ozora's wife, Sanae, gave birth to a pair of twins! This epic moment happened while Tsubasa was battling it out in an overseas U-23 match. Seeing Tsubasa finally become a father in the series has left many fans incredibly moved!

The "Captain Tsubasa: Rising Sun FINALS Arc" plunges into the white-hot intensity of the Madrid Olympics. Tsubasa leads the U-23 Japan national team in a head-to-head clash against Spain, spearheaded by the "Archangel" Michael. Both teams are deep into the second half, fighting tooth and nail for that coveted spot in the finals.

In a clutch play, Tsubasa took a low header to block Michael's shot, sustaining an injury but gritting his teeth and pushing through. "I absolutely have to make it to the Brazilian finals stage, where my mentor Roberto Hongo is waiting!" he passionately declared, rallying his teammates to keep fighting.

Right at this critical juncture, back in Japan, Sanae was rushed to the hospital by ambulance due to an unexpected situation and underwent an emergency C-section. Both families anxiously waited outside the operating room.

On the field, Tsubasa revealed his heartfelt motivation: "Because... yes, this very day! The day of the finals is also the due date for my and Sanae's twin sons. For their birth, I absolutely have to stand on that field—the Olympic finals field!!"

The final panel freezes on the moment he kicks the ball, shouting: "For new life, I must win this match!" In that instant, Tsubasa fully embodied the resolve and determination of a soon-to-be father.

Interestingly, the existence of these twins was actually hinted at way back in the 2006 short story collection "DREAM FIELD 1," where their names were already revealed as "Hayate" and "Daibu." Now, with their official birth in the main story, creator Yoichi Takahashi himself confirmed, "That's right, it's 'Hayate' and 'Daibu'! Please look forward to seeing how Tsubasa performs as a father from now on!"

While Yoichi Takahashi's health currently prevents him from drawing full manga chapters, limiting him to storyboard outlines, he's still meticulously bringing his planned story to life. For some, it might feel like the series has faded from memory, but his continued dedication shows the immense passion Takahashi-sensei holds for his craft, ensuring this 44-year-old classic lives on.
