Director Robert Eggers, widely recognized for helming dark fantasy and horror films such as "The Witch" and "The Northman," has recently shown a keen interest in remakes and sequels. Last year, he released a critically and commercially successful remake of "Nosferatu." In recent months, reports also surfaced that he is developing a sequel to "Labyrinth" and a new reboot of "Werwulf". Now, another classic, Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," has been added to his growing list of upcoming projects.

According to Deadline, Eggers is collaborating with Warner Bros. Pictures to develop a new adaptation of "A Christmas Carol." He has already cast his frequent collaborator, Willem Dafoe, who previously worked with him on "The Lighthouse," "The Northman," and "Nosferatu." Dafoe is set to portray the iconic character of Ebenezer Scrooge, created by original author Charles Dickens.

Additionally, Chris Columbus, who directed the first two "Harry Potter" films and served as a producer on Eggers' "The Witch," "The Lighthouse," and "Nosferatu," will continue his involvement in the production of "A Christmas Carol." Columbus's daughter, Elenor Columbus, is also attached to the project. This clearly indicates a reunion of Eggers' regular collaborators both in front of and behind the camera.
