When you think of the many entries in the *Mobile Suit Gundam* franchise, *Mobile Suit Gundam Wing*—often affectionately dubbed the "Gundam boy band"—is unforgettable. With its cast of handsome pilots and iconic voice actors, it became a rare installment that captured a massive female audience. This year, the classic series celebrates its 30th anniversary.
We previously covered X user HIM'EL (@BasedLEDA) after his hilarious meltdown over Nina Purpleton's storyline in *Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory* went viral among fans in Japan and abroad. Recently, he started watching *Mobile Suit Gundam Wing*, and his hot take on protagonists Heero Yuy and Relena Peacecraft has struck a chord with viewers—so much so that Shiina Nagano of TWO-MIX, the band behind the show's theme songs, chimed in to agree.

HIM'EL observed that while most Gundam protagonists gradually become a bit unhinged or "crazy" from the horrors of war, the main characters in *Gundam Wing* seem off-kilter right from the start. "Also, I LOVE this new Gundam (the Wing Gundam)!" he added. "Looks so imposing!"
This observation didn't just catch the eye of fans; it reached Shiina Nagano of TWO-MIX, who posted on X:
"An international fan posted about Gundam W, saying: 'Usually, Gundam protagonists slowly lose their minds during the war, but (in a way) the main characters of this series are already crazy from the start. Also, I love the new Gundam! It has such a powerful presence!'"
"...Yeah, I can only silently nod in agreement lol. But Gundam W was also the first Gundam series to air in North America, and it's definitely still popular today."

Besides Heero's maniacal laughter while fighting OZ mobile suits, there's the infamous scene where Relena invites him to her birthday party. Heero responds by tearing up the invitation and telling her, "I'll kill you." This left HIM'EL stunned, commenting, "This protagonist is just awful..."

But he didn't let Relena off the hook. When she later shouts, "I'm right here, Heero! Come and kill me!" he couldn't help but ask what was wrong with her. "She really needs therapy," he tweeted. "Does she genuinely have a death wish and wants a terrorist to end her life, or is she just saying these things to get his attention?"
He ultimately concluded, "It's all her dad's fault. If her father had been there to take care of her properly, things wouldn't have turned out this way..." showing a bit of sympathy for Relena's wild behavior.

As the story progressed to the scene where Relena and Heero dance, he remarked, "Dancing with someone who said they want to kill you seems to excite her. She's crazy too, even beyond crazy. It's like she's trying to tame a wild beast (Heero)."

Later, when Heero pilots his Gundam to save Relena, HIM'EL was fully invested:
"Wow, the beast has been tamed! Is this love or just pure attraction? It's kind of touching to see Heero showing concern for the girl he once wanted to kill for discovering his secret. Their relationship was super toxic before, but that's all in the past. Now it feels like they're getting closer~ I can't wait to see how this develops!" It seems HIM'EL is all in on *Gundam Wing*'s unique brand of high-stakes teen drama.

HIM'EL is continuing his watch of *Mobile Suit Gundam Wing* and sharing his thoughts, which have now captured the attention of fans worldwide. Compared to his previous viewing of *Mobile Suit Victory Gundam*, this experience seems to be a lot less painful for him, lol.
