After nearly 19 years of anticipation, the sequel to the classic urban comedy "The Devil Wears Prada," which was surprisingly announced to be in development last year, has officially begun production today. The studio also confirmed that all four core cast members—Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci—are returning. To mark the start of filming, 20th Century Studios released a short promotional video featuring two high heels side-by-side and a voiceover of classic lines from the first film, successfully igniting fan excitement.

In addition, a new cast member was revealed today. Kenneth Branagh, who has recently seen a career resurgence directing and starring in a series of Hercule Poirot films, including "Murder on the Orient Express," will join the sequel as Miranda Priestly's new husband, set to share the screen with Streep.

Reportedly, the sequel's plot will center on Miranda and Emily (played by Blunt). Miranda's career is in a slump, facing the decline of traditional publishing, and she will be forced to seek help from her former employee, Emily, who is now a high-ranking executive at a luxury brand company. Miranda desperately needs advertising funds from this company. The sequel is slated for a May 1, 2026 release.
