Robert Eggers, the acclaimed director behind "The VVitch," is gearing up to helm his new "werewolf" film, "Werwulf." Just days ago, news broke that Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Lily-Rose Depp had joined the cast, with Johnson slated to portray the titular werewolf and Depp his wife. Now, it has been further revealed that Willem Dafoe is also part of the ensemble.

Like Johnson and Depp, Dafoe was also a cast member in Eggers' upcoming "Nosferatu." However, Dafoe's collaboration with Eggers runs even deeper, as he previously starred in Eggers' "The Northman" and "The Lighthouse." Last month, reports also surfaced that Dafoe was set to lead Eggers' concurrently developing adaptation of "A Christmas Carol."

Eggers directs "Werwulf" and co-wrote the screenplay. Sjón, who previously co-wrote "The Northman" with Eggers, continues his collaboration as co-writer for this project. Chris Columbus, director of the first two "Harry Potter" films, who has consecutively produced Eggers' "The VVitch," "The Lighthouse," and "Nosferatu," is confirmed to return as a producer, alongside his daughter Eleanor Columbus. The film is slated for a Christmas release next year and is scheduled to commence principal photography this September.
