Khara, the studio behind the iconic "Neon Genesis Evangelion," announced today (July 18) via its official website that its representative director and president, Hideaki Anno, will be joining the board of directors at anime production company "Production I.G." The appointment, which has been approved by the board, will officially take effect on August 21.

Founded in December 1987, Production I.G boasts an impressive portfolio, including classics like "Ghost in the Shell," "Haikyuu!!," "Guilty Crown," "Kuroko's Basketball," and "PSYCHO-PASS." More recently, they've delivered hits such as "Kaiju No. 8," "From Me to You," and "Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc."

But Anno isn't the only new face! IG Port also announced that Tomonori Tanaka will be joining Production I.G's board alongside him. Tanaka currently serves as the Video Service Department Manager for the Smart Life Business Division at avex broadcasting & communications, and is also a director at East Group Holdings.

Anno's move to Production I.G is already sending ripples through the anime fandom. Especially considering Production I.G's catalog boasts sci-fi heavy hitters like "Legend of the Galactic Heroes" and "Ghost in the Shell"—genres Anno absolutely dominates.
