With just over a month until its release, "The Conjuring: Last Rites," the fourth mainline installment in "The Conjuring" universe and positioned as the grand finale of the franchise, has finally seen Warner Bros. Pictures drop its second trailer and a brand-new promotional poster (pictured below), revealing more terrifying footage to excite fans.
"Last Rites" is once again directed by Michael Chaves, who previously helmed "The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It," the spin-off "The Nun II," and "The Curse of La Llorona." David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who penned "The Conjuring" parts two and three, returns to write the screenplay.

Set in 1986, five years after the events of the third film, "Last Rites" is based on the infamous 1973 Smurl haunting case. At this point, the Warrens have retired from active demonology, primarily because Ed Warren suffered a heart attack in the previous installment and his body can no longer endure such strenuous work. However, a new case compels them to return to their profession.
In addition to the returning Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as the Warrens, the new cast includes Mia Tomlinson as their daughter Judy Warren and Ben Hardy as Judy's boyfriend. The film is scheduled to hit North American theaters on September 5th.
