Thirty years after its TV anime debut, Neon Genesis Evangelion remains a cultural powerhouse, constantly sparking collaborations and proving its enduring appeal.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Neon Genesis Evangelion, the official "ALL OF EVANGELION" special exhibition is set to run from November 14, 2025, to January 12, 2026, at Tokyo City View in Roppongi, Tokyo. The organizers have just dropped a sneak peek at the exhibition's entrance visual and revealed some major highlights.
This epic exhibition will take fans on a journey from the very first TV broadcast of Neon Genesis Evangelion in October 1995, all the way to the series' grand finale with "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time" in 2021. Expect a treasure trove of rare materials, including original TV anime storyboards and design documents rarely seen by the public, alongside never-before-shown production materials from the "Rebuild of Evangelion" film series. It's not just a visual feast; prepare to immerse your senses and truly grasp the monumental impact of this franchise over three decades.
Get ready for an incredible photo op! A specially crafted giant Unit-01 model will greet visitors at the entrance. Perched 250 meters high at Tokyo City View in Roppongi, with the Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Bay skyline as its backdrop, this setup promises an absolutely breathtaking and powerful photo spot.
For this exhibition, a massive archive of 30 years' worth of materials has been meticulously curated. Unreleased original storyboards will offer fans a rare glimpse into the creative process and the genesis of the series. The exhibition zones will showcase design sketches and original artwork spanning from the TV anime to the "Rebuild of Evangelion" films, illustrating how this expansive world was brought to life.
Furthermore, the evolution of the "Rebuild of Evangelion" films—from "Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone," "Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance," and "Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo," to the final chapter "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time"—will be fully presented through animated clips and documents, recreating the monumental history behind these works.
