As "Avengers: Doomsday" production enters its later stages, rumors of on-set tensions have circulated online, drawing significant fan attention. While the actors involved remain unnamed, insiders report that a conflict indeed occurred within the crew.
Film critic John Rocha revealed on his YouTube channel that one actor angered a co-star with a particular remark, leading to a heated verbal altercation. Though it didn't escalate to a physical fight, the situation reportedly became quite intense.
Marvel and Disney reportedly intervened to mediate, even proposing script adjustments to add a new subplot for the characters involved. However, the actors declined upon learning of the substantial costs associated with the rewrites, ultimately reaching a resolution. Rocha emphasized that while specific details are scarce, "the offended party" reportedly had valid reasons for their reaction.
Beyond the on-set conflict, significant attention has focused on Robert Downey Jr.'s reshoots. Initially, some of Doctor Doom's scenes were reportedly handled with a CGI mask because Downey found the costume uncomfortable. However, as production progressed, he reportedly felt that having only a body double for physical movements and his own voice-over was insufficient, prompting him to change his mind and don the suit himself for the performance.
Sources indicate that Disney CEO Bob Iger was also reportedly dissatisfied with the CGI solution, a key factor in prompting the reshoots. Notably, during these reshoots, Downey not only reinterpreted the character but also reportedly acted as a "shadow director," participating in adjustments and rewriting some dialogue and scenes.
"Avengers: Doomsday" is now slated for release on December 18, 2026, with its sequel, "Avengers: Secret Wars," set to follow on December 17, 2027. Both films are directed by the Russo Brothers.
