The "Alien" prequel series, initially envisioned for multiple installments, has seen no further development since 2017's "Alien: Covenant" faced a declining box office and lukewarm critical reception. Despite the eight-year hiatus, a dedicated fanbase continues to clamor for a continuation of the story. Director Ridley Scott, frequently questioned about the franchise's future, recently shared his interest in revisiting the prequels during an interview with The Guardian.
Scott responded, stating, "I'm currently working on 'Gladiator 3.' As for another 'Alien' prequel... if I come up with an idea, I'll certainly do it." While Scott is clearly not opposed to extending the prequel storyline, his immediate focus lies elsewhere.

Beyond "Alien" and "Gladiator," Scott has also been approached for other major franchises, including "Terminator." During the recent interview, he was asked to confirm if he had indeed considered directing "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" and he not only confirmed it but also elaborated on his reasons for ultimately declining the project.
Scott proudly recounted, "I turned down $20 million for that. See, money can't buy me, man." He continued, explaining that after someone suggested he "go ask Arnold how much he got paid," he initially agreed to "give it a shot." However, even after they met his asking price, Scott had a change of heart. "Then I thought, 'F***, I can't do it. That's not me.'" He likened the situation to directing a James Bond film, noting, "Bond films are inherently fun and exaggerated. 'Terminator' is a pure fantasy journey, but I would make it very realistic. That's why I've never been invited to direct a Bond film, because I would mess it up."
