"Deadpool & Wolverine" director Shawn Levy's new "Star Wars" universe standalone film, "Star Wars: Starfighter," officially began production today, simultaneously unveiling its full main cast.

In addition to previously confirmed cast members Ryan Gosling, Mia Goth, and Matt Smith, today's newly revealed actors include Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Amy Adams, Daniel Ings, and rising child star Flynn Gray. Also joining is Aaron Pierre (pictured below), who recently entered the DC Universe as John Stewart's Green Lantern.

"Starfighter" is penned by Jonathan Tropper, who previously collaborated with Levy on "This Is Where I Leave You" and "The Adam Project." The story is set several years after the events of "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," the ninth installment in the Skywalker Saga. Production is slated to begin this fall. Rumors suggest this will be a smaller-scale "Star Wars" project with a significantly lower budget than typical franchise films. It is reportedly centered on Gosling's Jedi character attempting to train his 15-year-old nephew, with the duo pursued by a pair of villains—one male, one female—during their mission. The film is scheduled for a North American release on May 28, 2027.
