This chapter is helmed by "The Marvels" director Nia DaCosta. The star-studded cast includes returning core characters such as Chi Lewis-Parry, Alfie Williams, Ralph Fiennes, and Jack O'Connell. Emma Laird and Erin Kellyman, who made cameo appearances at the end of the previous film, will officially step into significant supporting roles. Additionally, original "28 Days Later" star Cillian Murphy is confirmed to have a brief cameo, setting the stage for the fifth installment.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, DaCosta stated that while she is continuing the story from previous director Danny Boyle, she will not replicate Boyle's filmmaking style. Instead, she will interpret the narrative in her own way, noting that the storylines for Fiennes' Dr. Kelsen and O'Connell's Jimmy Gang cult have been independently designed with distinct tonal approaches. DaCosta described the third and fourth films as "insane, unique, and highly artistic" works.

DaCosta also revealed that Alfie Williams' protagonist, "Spike," will be forced to join the Jimmy Gang in this film after encountering their leader (O'Connell's character) at the end of the last movie. Dr. Kelsen and the infected "Alpha" Samson are also set to clash with the Jimmy Gang. "The Bone Temple" is slated for release on January 16 next year.
