Two months ago, the inaugural film in the seventh James Bond series secured "Dune" franchise director Denis Villeneuve to helm the project and "Peaky Blinders" creator Steven Knight to pen the script. Today, Deadline has unveiled further details regarding the highly anticipated reboot.

On the plot front, sources reveal that Knight's screenplay is expected to delve into Bond's initial service in the Royal Navy before his recruitment into MI6. This suggests the first installment of the new era could serve as an origin story for the iconic spy.

Furthermore, Deadline reports that Villeneuve will only commence the casting process after completing production on "Dune: Part Three" next year. The current casting brief is reportedly for a new face, an actor in their late twenties or early thirties, rather than an already established star. This criteria indicates that many of the long-standing fan-favorite, A-list contenders are unlikely to be considered. However, this hasn't deterred other actors from vying for the coveted role. According to Deadline's sources, a massive number of actors, regardless of their current fame, have already sent letters of interest, with the volume described as unprecedented.

As for production and release, sources indicate that filming is expected to officially commence in 2027, targeting a 2028 release. The film is likely to debut in November, a traditional release window for many previous Bond installments.
