The ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine has increasingly polarized Hollywood in recent years, with some industry professionals voicing support for Palestinians while others caution against anti-Israel sentiment escalating into antisemitism.
The pro-Palestinian faction in Hollywood appears to have a stronger voice currently. Recently, director Adam McKay, along with Mark Ruffalo, Javier Bardem, Emma Stone, Joaquin Phoenix, and approximately 4,000 other industry figures, signed a petition refusing to work with Israeli institutions and companies "allegedly complicit in genocide and apartheid against the Palestinian people."

However, the petition immediately drew backlash from another segment of the industry. Paramount Pictures issued a statement days ago, expressing disagreement with the boycott of Israeli film and television professionals, stating that such actions do not contribute to peace or mutual understanding. Paramount also emphasized that the global entertainment industry should encourage artists worldwide to share their stories and voices to foster communication.
Earlier today, Liev Schreiber, Debra Messing, and 1,200 other Hollywood figures launched a counter-petition, urging their boycotting colleagues not to fuel antisemitism, spread misinformation, or stifle artistic expression.
