The "Highlander" reboot, helmed by "John Wick" franchise director Chad Stahelski, recently saw its production delayed until next year due to star Henry Cavill's injury. Despite the setback, the production continues to generate buzz by steadily announcing new cast members.
The Hollywood Reporter announced today that Oscar winner Jeremy Irons has officially joined the cast, taking on a villainous role as the leader of a secret organization known as "The Watchers." This clandestine group monitors the "Immortals," viewing them as a threat to humanity. Irons isn't the only antagonist; Dave Bautista is also set to portray another villain, The Kurgan.

Other confirmed cast members for the new "Highlander" include Cavill as the protagonist Connor MacLeod, Russell Crowe as MacLeod's mentor Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, Marisa Abela as Brenda Wyatt, Karen Gillan as MacLeod's wife Heather, and Max Zhang and Djimon Hounsou in undisclosed roles.
The film's writing team features Ryan J. Condal, co-writer of "Rampage," Kerry Williamson, co-writer of "What Happened to Monday," and Michael Finch, co-writer of "John Wick: Chapter 4." Production is slated to officially begin later this month.
