Released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS company, the 'S.H.Figuarts (Shinkocchou Seihou)' series, which sculpts from the skeletal structure to recreate the physique of tokusatsu hero actors, has announced its latest product, 'Kamen Rider Old 2 (Kamen Rider vs. Shocker Ver.)', from the 1972 film 'Kamen Rider vs. Shocker', slated for release in April 2026.
Kamen Rider 2
, who appeared in the original 'Kamen Rider' TV series, is a hero transformed by another cyborg protagonist, Hayato Ichimonji. He took over for Takeshi Hongo / Kamen Rider 1 to fight the Shocker organization in Japan while Hongo was on assignment in Europe. To differentiate it from the form that was re-modified and strengthened after episode 72, the pre-strengthening form that appeared in episodes 14-52 and the movie 'Kamen Rider vs. Shocker' is referred to as 'Old 2'.
The body proportions of 'S.H.Figuarts (Shinkocchou Seihou) Kamen Rider Old 2 (Kamen Rider vs. Shocker Ver.)' are based on skeletal sculpting derived from period video materials. It features rich details such as a helmet sculpt distinct from Sakurajima 1, hair peeking out from behind the helmet, the texture of the silver fabric on both sides of the body, and the windmill in the center of the belt. In addition to the original two PVC scarf parts, a new fabric material part has been added for the red scarf, which can be shaped with an internal metal wire to naturally flutter in various poses.
Precise articulation segmentation technology throughout the body achieves a flexible range of motion without revealing unsightly joint parts. Coupled with 7 pairs of differently shaped hand parts and a 'sword' snatched from a Shocker Combatman, you can recreate cool battle poses from the show. Additionally, accessories include interchangeable hand parts that link with the separately sold 'Kamen Rider 1 (Sakurajima Ver.) Glorious Showa Rider Edition', allowing you to recreate the iconic victory handshake scene between the two riders.
