The "Predator" franchise, known for its core "hunting" theme, has consistently featured intense gore, violence, dismemberment, and blood splatter. Consequently, all six previous installments were rated R. However, the upcoming "Predator: Badlands," set to release this November 6, marks a significant departure, confirmed with a PG-13 rating. This makes it the first standalone "Predator" film to receive a PG-13 rating, aside from the initial "Alien vs. Predator" movie.

Producer Ben Rosenblatt explained to IGN that the film's PG-13 rating stems from the absence of human casualties or bloodshed. He noted that the primary focus of "Badlands" is on the Predator hunting other alien creatures, resulting in visuals that deviate from the traditionally gory expectations, as any characters bleeding are not human. Rosenblatt stated that they aimed to create a PG-13 film that "feels" R-rated, emphasizing that this was their goal to broaden the audience for such films.
Rosenblatt further elaborated that with no human characters, there would be no red human blood, which they hoped to leverage as an advantage. He affirmed that they would make the film as violent as possible within these constraints, confident they could deliver genuinely terrifying visuals, just without the typical red color.
