While it's currently unconfirmed if Johnson herself will appear in the film, singer Charli XCX, Jessica Alba, and Vanessa Burghardt (who played Johnson's daughter in "Cha Cha Real Smooth" and is pictured left above) are all confirmed to join the cast. Burghardt is also credited as the film's screenwriter. Production is slated to begin next month in Los Angeles. The story centers on a young woman with autism who, in the summer after her high school graduation, breaks free from her overprotective but loving mother to seek independence and friendship.
